Institut Mutualiste Montsouris
What a great hospital this is. I had three days of tests this week, all of which might take six months in the NHS, waiting weeks and weeks for appointments etc.
I had a Coronarography. An impressive procedure by any standards, it is a way of seeing if there are any obstacles in the Coronary arteries. This was done like a real operation with two surgeons and two nurses, I was given a local anesthetic. then, in the operating theatre I was completely covered except my face and right wrist. it was on the wrist the artery was accessed, then a small hose is inserted right up to the heart, fluid is injected and the x-rays to check for obstacles, it was pretty uncomfortable but not painful really and took 40 minutes.
I had an electrocardiogram, x-rays, Doppler ultrasound and lung/breathing check plus several other procedures. The main conclusion was that I do not need any Stents or by-pass surgery, just a valve change. that was good news as it means no cutting in the legs to extract any veins.
So that is the news on my visit to IMM. The food was good the room excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. No strop anywhere. I can not say I am looking forward to going back but I would be more worried if I was having to use the NHS for the next procedure which is on Tuesday 2nd as most of you know.
