We are now settled back in the old routine after our Summer holidays in France. We had to take them late as I was in hospital most of the Summer months having my heart fixed.
We took our cat Lola with us which was a great success, she has never been to France before and speaks no French, however she got on very well. Spent much time looking for French mice which are everywhere in the French country house we stayed in. She did not catch any but it was fun trying ! We were joined by friends Grahame and Breda for three days which was very enjoyable. We tried some interesting restaurants, some of the French country places still do excellent value lunches. At St Maure, Chez Duffort we had 4 course lunch, wine and coffee for €12. Thats pretty good these days. We had a couple of Oyster lunches as they are such good value at €6 per dozen . I think Whitstable oysters are about £2 each these days in UK. Our friend Robert is selling his Chateau, so if you fancy a big place on 9 acres of rural French countryside see: www.frenchpix.com/chateaulemail
